1. Treat others that you want to be treated
Sounds preachy, but this is the golden rule to be compassionate. Treat people you want to be treated to, and you will automatically become more compassionate. A real thank you for the seller, sorry for a friend you were not there for, or a smile for your lifter goes a long way!

2. Listen really
When a person is going through tough times, it is sometimes all they need, who can only listen patiently to them. Was that kind of listener. There may be times when you can not find a solution, but listening without judging will also be a great help.

3. Perspective flip
You can only really empathize with someone when you sit in their shoes and try to understand their problems. We all go through something, so why not help each other sail through. Ask yourself –
- What would I have done in this situation?
- How would I feel in a similar situation?
- How would I respond?
A change in perspective helps you understand the problem, and you can also judge what the other person needs or expects and be more compassionate to them.

4. Health yourself to heal others
Be self-assured and only then can you help others. Talk to your parents or friends or seek professional help if you go through some kind of emotional / mental stress. Take control of your situation and you will see that compassion comes automatically. You start to feel the pain that the other person goes through and helps them too!

5. Release of judgments
This may be a bit difficult, but when you start exercising with an open mind, things will fall into place. Do not limit the things in "right" and "wrong". Flow with what happens and drop judgments to be more compassionate. Life is difficult and everyone tries to put their best foot forward.

Estimate what you have and are grateful for it will only grow positive energy. You can see how privileged you are and be more compassion to those who can fight.
We have all the tough times, but once you understand that someone's problems are bigger than yours, you will become more compassion in true meaning.
