Updated September 19, 2012. I can still see myself sitting on my single bed and writing this post. I was probably hungry and gorging some snacks late in the evening during the weekend and it would have given me the thought of posting on the subject. Life has come a long way since then !! But, my love for midnight snacks is unchanged and undeniable.
I absolutely love to climb midnight snacks. Making my disclaimer – Having snacks late at night is not recommended and is an unhealthy habit with long-term consequences.
You should have a light dinner two hours before bedtime and should be asleep when it hits 11:00. Being awake until midnight is bad for your health, destroying your sleep, causing chaos on your watch and helping you put on the extra flabber.
By revising this post after so far, I've actually also realized how much I've changed over the past six years. Most days I sleep fast or sleep very at 11 and although I'm awake at midnight sessions, I usually have a comfort food that reminds me of childhood, have water or green tea that calms me and helps induce sleep. Yes, I have definitely aged and am wiser now !!
Jokes aside, what do you do when you get the midnight searches? Most people get a sugar jumping. On those days we go out for a glass of falooda that I try not to have but sometimes I end up with. Of course it is about 11 then. And a few months back, I was literally dependent on mom. They are hot and the guy we brought them from used to serve soup and homemade mayo that were to die for. Unfortunately, the request is unpleasant thanks to the store closing or probably moving away. Yes, I'm sure my body is quite grateful !! Swiggy, Panda and Zomato and Dominoes have all made our lives simple by providing easy access to midnight snacks as well.
How can you control your midnight searches?
Sleep early. Well, this is quite obvious but many times maybe it will not work, especially when it's a weekend or a holiday the next day.
Drink green tea. Relaxing the entire system, fills you with water, hydrates you directly and induces sleep.
Protein Rich Dinner. Although I'm not sure if diet or heavy food is a part of it request because they are mostly physical responses to our emotional needs, we can always try to address through a food that does not melt immediately.
Keep something healthy. Probably fruit or nuts or even a chocolate bar or protein bar. For me, the threptin cookie is complemented with complan. Not healthy at all, but it's my childhood's favorite comfort food !!
Indulge. Well, another obvious solution hangs once upon a time. It may happen that you can design a cheating day in a month or two weeks to get your midnight snacks.
Whatever you do, enjoy the snacks and requests and remember that you'll get older ever to go so what you like right now may not be something you would like to do in a month. So, let it be and focus on it now.
