How to Shop for Fragrance Online

There is no doubt about it; The Internet has changed forever how we shop. Now we can have pretty much delivered to our door – often within 24 hours – from our foods to the latest skin care offer. Literally, is our oysters world or should we say that the internet is our dream store!

But one thing that can be a bit difficult to buy online is scent; Scent is such a personal thing, and it can be quite difficult to decide if you want it without smelling it first. But that does not mean you can not find a dreamy new scent online, you just need to know what to look for. Here's all you need to know before shopping for scent online.

Feel the concentration

One of the first things you need to understand when buying a scent is why some are so damn expensive and why are some significantly cheaper! The higher the concentration of true perfume the higher the price tag. The higher concentration means that it costs more to do, but it will also be longer on your skin, so you will spray less, and you usually use less daily. The most common types of fragrance are:

Perfume (Perfume): Perfume is the highest fragrance concentration and will have somewhere between 15 percent and 40 percent fragrance, although most perfumes vary between 20 and 30 percent. Perfumes will usually remain fragrant longer – between six to eight hours.

Eau de Parfum (EDP): Eau de Parfum, which is more common than perfume, will have a concentration range of 15 to 20 percent. This means that they will take four to five hours, making them perfect for everyday use.

Eau de Toilette (EDT): Eau de Toilette will usually have a concentration of 5 to 15 percent and is much easier in the smell.

Feel the notes

Most smells consist of three notes: one base, one middle and one top note. The base note will be the heaviest and will usually last approximately six hours. The middle note, also called the fragrance heart, will be a little brighter while the top notch is the easiest and will only remain fragrant for thirty minutes. When looking for smells on the net, make sure you like bass and medium notes, as these will be the most potent. For example, if you love praise, look for it in the middle or bass notes; If it's only in the top notebook rather than the top notebook, your favorite scent may be gone for an hour or exaggerated by other notes that you do not like.

Feel your amazing smells

Scent is a very personal but instinctive thing, meaning something that does not vary a lot – they will be special smells that you immediately love and then try to look for them.

Take a look at the smells you like best and find out what notes they have. It is likely that there are one or two common, for example, if you love Juicy Couture, Viva La Juicy, $ 78, which has notes of amber and jasmine, you'll also enjoy Euphoria by Calvin Klein, $ 77 because it has a similar, creamy but still fresh fragrance with notes of amber, pomegranate mahogany and flower. Also look at the fragrance family and try to stick to it. The most common fragrance families are flowers, citrus, wood, fruit and musk. Feel the smell of scent

When you surf, you notice that the same buzzwords are on display – light, floral, fresh are all super common. And while some of the fragrances are easier to decode than others, words like gourmand can throw away your game. Here is a quick glossary of the more complex fragrance-related words:

Gourmand: Sweet, sweet, rich smells
Aromatic: Natural, fresh, herby smells
animal: Natural, warm smells
oriental: Spicy and warm smells
Fougere: Flowers, wood-like smells

Pay attention to name and packaging

Even if you're looking for the smell, the packaging and fragrance name can be a good indication of whether a scent fits your taste. While we do not suggest you buy a scent for the packaging or marketing campaign, it can help you decide. For example, dark scent bottles usually contain rich, luxurious smells that are perfect for night time. Similarly, if you are looking for a light, floral scent, a fragrance named Velvet Orchid will be too rich and potent.

Try a test

There are now plenty of sites and brands offering samples like Sephora or Lucky Scent, so you can try your scent before making it your signature. We would definitely recommend this because it allows you to smell how a scent carries on your skin, because because of your own unique pheromones it can calm a little differently on each person.

Use reputable websites

When shopping online, we recommend using a well-known website or retailer to avoid accidentally buying a knock-off perfume. Also, be careful when buying from resale pages like eBay or Amazon, and try to check the seller in advance.
