Lipstick that lasts from noon to night sometimes feels like a makeup mite. No matter how long a product claims it is inevitable that you need to move all day – whether after lunch or pre-cocktails. This means that we are constantly looking for hack and pro tips to lock our lipstick in place.

So when we discovered a notch that involved zero lipstick but gave long-lasting lip color we shook; And obviously it has been a makeup artist's secret weapon for years. We first heard it from celeb MUA Mario Dedivanovic who works with A-listers such as Kim K, Ariana Grande and Priyanka Chopra, but we quickly discovered many more MUAs who encountered the hack. Fascinated? Here's all you need to know about the celeb-approved lipstick chopper.

Lipstick hitch Step-by-step

The key product for this lipstick shack is a powdery eye shadow. Confused? The eye shadow is the coloring and the setting agent – just think of it as a colored setting powder. The other essential product is lip balm, which acts as the glue that allows your lip color to stay in place. Here is our step-by-step guide:

STEP 1. Prep Lip: First, you need to create a completely clean cloth for your pressed powder; The softer the lip, the more seamless the last look. We start by exfoliating the lip with a scrub like the lush lip screw in Mint Julips, $ 11, to buff off all dead hides. Then hydrate the lip with a nourishing lip balm – it should be transparent otherwise it will affect the final color.

STEP 2. Blot: Okay so this step is super important otherwise the color will not have the same resilience. Gently rinse your lip balm with a tissue to remove any excess product. Your lips should feel damp but not wet.

STEP 3. Apply eye shadow: Use a tightly packed flat brush, pack a powdered eye shadow of your choice on the lip and mix the color. The more eye shadow you apply, the longer it will be, don't be afraid to store yourself.

For more intense color: Some makeup artists recommend using a lipstick after your conditioner to give a more intense color, then they continue to put the lipstick with a similar shade of eye shadow or pressed pigment. For pink or peach tones, blush shades work really well.

Option 2: Bake your lips

You can also set your lipstick with a transparent powder. We put our Cinco De Mayo Matte Power Bullet, $ 25, with Huda Beauty Easy Bake Powder, $ 34, and it stayed in place, even after eating an apple – it was transferred a little, but survived totally intact. Simply apply your chosen lipstick and then again, using a tightly packed flat brush, pack the transparent powder onto your lips, allow it to stand for 3-5 minutes and dust off the remaining powder. When it is finished, go for a last coat of paint by dabbing the lip with lipstick. You slightly soften the lipstick's color, but it works very well.
