This New Drugstore Retinol is one of the best we have tried!

If there is a product that really gets things to do, it's retinol. It's like wrinkle fighting, pore minimization, oil-fixing miracle herb, skin-filling and along with red light, probably one of the most effective anti-aging formulas out there.

Retinoids work to accelerate skin cell turnover on the surface, giving room for new cells. Retinol not only increases collagen production but also helps to prevent collagen degradation primarily, thereby keeping wrinkles away. It is also one of the most effective ways to get rid of hyperpigmentation, dark spots and acne scars. As we said, it's the type of cure – the whole beauty industry (even if you have rosacea or very sensitive skin, you need to be careful).

So now you know why we dig retinol, let's introduce you to one of our great new formulas: Inkey List's Retinol, $ 13. If you're familiar with The Ordinary, you'll fall in love with the new, extreme affordable skin care collection from The Inkey List, which offers some of our beautiful beauty heroes at affordable prices. While most "affordable" retinols still get into the $ 30 plus price range, we are shaken with the results of this $ 13 retinol. Inkey List has combined 1% stable retinol and 0.5% granular retinoid (retinols more potent siblings) with one of our all-time favorite oils, squalane, to hydrate and calm the skin. The slow release formula reduces irritation while providing effective active delivery. We also love the gell-like consistency of application.

While retinol may take up to a few months to show impressive results – more smooth skin tone and minimized fine lines – we noticed a difference every morning. Whether it contributed to a more even skin tone, inflammation in pimples decreases or helps control oil. Seriously, if you have oily skin, you will not regret this – it was a surprise at night.

Our tips:

  • Use in the evening after double cleansing and toning, and before any serum or night cream.
  • Start using this a few times a week during the first two weeks, then gradually increase usage in the next month until you use it most nights. Retinol can dry and can make your skin more sensitive, so you need to slowly build up your skin's tolerance to it.
  • Do not forget to wear SPF during the day – there's no need to try to fix your skin if you're going to let the sun regret all your hard work! Check out these SPF myths you need to know.

If you are looking for something affordable and effective for either dark spots, hyperpigmentation, anti aging, acne scars or oily skin control, we strongly recommend this! Let us know if you have tried something from the new skin care label in the comments below. x
